One of the goals of the support ministry of the LCMS in Papua New Guinea is "to strengthen the ability of local Lutheran church partners to be confident, trusted, mutual colleagues in the Lord's work."  In March, 2007 the Gutnius Lutheran Church (GLC) requested that the LCMS send a financial trainer to help them build a firm financial accounting system and develop sound business practices. The primary responsibilities will include assessing the finance office policies and procedures of the GLC, advising and training authorized GLC financial officers, and jointly reinstating a system of financial management and accountability for the Gutnius Lutheran Church, all for the purpose of bringing Glory to God and well-being to this church.
