The situation of HIV and AIDS within Papua New Guinea today is grave. As an HIV educator, you will serve as a mentor of “United To Be,” a grassroots organization committed to peer support, care networking, education, volunteerism and action in the community. You will also focus on identifying, creating, and sharing HIV resource materials for targeted audiences, such as curriculum resources for schools.
The strategy of the HIV initiatives is to be a catalyst moving others to effective action, removing the barriers which immobilize programs and people, promoting attitudes which illuminate God’s love, forgiveness, and care, and enlisting the participation of churches, schools, youth groups, families, and individuals in the fight not only against HIV, but in the positive challenge towards dignity, justice, hope, and a fuller recognition of God’s presence and care in our lives and our HIV-plagued world. |
