LCMS World Relief and Human Care

LCMS World Relief and Human Care is the mercy arm of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). The international ministry provides care for the needy, meeting both physical and spiritual needs. LCMS World Relief and Human Care coordinates human care and disaster relief projects, including major LCMS responses after the tsunami in Asia and the hurricanes in the Gulf Coast.
LCMS World Relief and Human Care’s unique mission is building Lutheran capacity domestically and internationally. The ministry strives to assist faithful Lutheran churches and partners in providing care for the needy—including the homeless, the persecuted and the sick—in conjunction with proclamation of the Gospel.
LCMS World Relief and Human Care is based at the LCMS International Center in St. Louis, Mo. The LCMS was founded in 1847 and has 2.5 million baptized members in 6,150 congregations. The church ranks as one of the 10 largest Christian denominations in the United States.
