Emigrated with Martin Stephan* 1838. First treas. Mo. Syn. His son, Martin C. Barthel (February 12, 1838 to February 26, 1899), was the first gen. agent of publishing interests of Mo. Syn. (1860) and first mgr. CPH 186991.
