Stephan* Sr.; gave practical assistance to colonists in Perry Co., Missouri; one of the founders of the coll. at Altenburg. Teacher Trinity school, St. Louis 1841; asst. pastor Trinity 1844; pastor Immanuel 1847. Walther called him the Am. Luth.
