Sieveking re-elected in Iowa West
Rev. Paul Sieveking of Fort Dodge, Iowa, was re-elected to his second term as president of the Iowa District West at the district's convention, June 22-25 at Camp Okoboji in Milford, Iowa. Sieveking was elected on the first ballot.
Delegates also re-elected Rev. John Schauer, Ida Grove, Iowa, as first vice president, and Rev. Steven Turner, Algona, Iowa, as second vice president.
Under the theme "Harvest of Joy ... Joy in Ministry," delegates voted to:
* endorse the Lay Leadership Institute, established through a partnership with Concordia University, St. Paul, Minn., and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and to recognize those who complete the program.
* promote ministerial and family health.
* provide funding for a director for the district's Individual Outreach with Adults and Youth program.
* encourage and support students studying for church-work careers.
* support the Center for U.S. Missions in Irvine, Calif.
* recognize participants in the Synod's Distance Education Leading to Ordination, or DELTO, program.
