Jacob & Michelle Gillard,
Serving the Lord in Uganda and Sudan

Bio

Jacob and Michelle GillardJacob and Michelle Gillard serve the Lord in East Africa, where they work with the  Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sudan (ELCS) in South Sudan. As a mission facilitator, Jacob helps train, disciple and walk alongside the leaders. God is growing congregations faster than he is providing pastors so the training of godly lay leaders is a crucial task. Michelle’s service includes the important work of guiding and encouraging women. The ELCS has approximately 80 congregations/preaching stations.

Jacob attended Concordia University, St. Paul, where he earned his degree through the Oswald Hoffmann School of Christian Outreach. After graduating from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, he served congregations in Maryland and Minnesota. Jacob enjoys reading, fishing, and photography in his leisure time. Michelle earned a bachelor’s degree at Concordia University, St. Paul, and was the first to earn a Master of Arts in Christian Outreach from the Oswald Hoffmann School of Christian Outreach. Michelle’s hobbies include reading, walking, and outdoor activities. The Gillards have two daughters, Amelia and Evangeline.

Prayers

Please pray with the Gillards as they serve in East Africa. They ask, “Give thanks for the fulfilling ministry experiences we’ve had in our first term on the field. Praise God for faithful Sudanese co-workers. Thank God for safe travel over so many miles of roads. Ask for Spirit-filled and trusting relationships with our co-workers in the ELCS. Give thanks and praise to the Lord for His work in the hearts of people throughout East Africa. Finally, thank God for co-workers at LCMS World Mission who go the extra mile to make our service so joyful and hassle-free.”
