The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod
Josef Alfazema is a native of Mozambique who was trained and ordained by the Lutheran Church—Canada (LC—C). He is supported by the Kapasseni Project of the LC—C. Currently, a partnership exists between the Kapasseni Project, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brazil (IELB), the Free Evangelical Lutheran Synod in South Africa and The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod to provide theological education to pastors of the congregations that Josef has planted, which comprise this emerging Portuguese-language Lutheran church body. Professors from the IELB provide training in Portuguese, and the LCMS provides funding for their travel to Mozambique.
