Shara Osiro -- Serving the Lord in Eastern and Southern Africa

Shara Osiro

Serving the Lord in Eastern and Southern Africa

Bio

Shara Osiro serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Africa, based in Kenya. As the regional shared ministries manager, she supports ministry programs and services that extend across multiple countries and personnel in the region. In collaboration with the region’s leadership team, she helps to develop strategic program and project plans for the included ministries, and then she regularly reviews and revises those plans.

Shara was born in St. Vincent, in the West Indies, and graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Her home congregation is Christ Lutheran Church in Phoenix, Ariz. Shara has previously served on short-term mission trips to Uganda, Rwanda, Mexico and Peru. She also served with the LCMS for two years in South Africa. She enjoys going to the movies, reading, traveling and working with kids. Her husband, Michael, is Kenyan and works as a software engineer.

Prayers

Pray for Shara and Michael as they serve in Africa. Pray that God grants them continued strength and wisdom to serve Him and to develop and nurture strong relationships with the local people. Ask God to help them be strong Christian witnesses to many people and to keep them in good health so that they may serve to their fullest capacity. Let us thank God that Shara and Michael are serving His children in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose, when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution toward another aspect of ministry that aligns closely the contributor’s goals and values. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.

Consistent with Synod Board policy and in recognition of a more challenging economic and philanthropic/fundraising environment due to inflationary pressure, not more than 12.5 percent of any charitable contribution will be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors (compared to a not-more-than ceiling of 10.5 percent the previous fiscal year). Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
