Andrea Herman serves the Lord and the LCMS as an evangelistic trainer to women in Guinea. Andrea first served in Guinea as the volunteer coordinator from 1999-2000, when she served as a long-term missionary through LCMS World Mission. It was during that time that God introduced her to the Maninka people, an unreached people group, among whom she now lives and works. Andrea works to identify women, among the Maninka people group, who the Spirit has moved to be open to learning about God’s Word and discipling them to the point where they can begin to teach others. Many of the Maninka people practice Folk Islam, a religion combining traditional Islam and native animistic practices involving witchcraft. Before arriving in Guinea in early 2007, Andrea completed a semester of French language training in Canada. Once she arrived in Guinea, she began learning the local dialect.

Andrea was born in Coon Rapids, Minn. Her home congregation is Family of Christ Lutheran Church. She received a bachelor’s degree in communications from Winona State University, Winona, Minn. Andrea is currently working toward a master’s degree in Christian outreach from Concordia University, St. Paul, Minn.

Please pray for Andrea and the Maninka people. Pray that God would open the hearts of Maninka women, and that He would give them a deep desire to seek and know the truth. Please pray that this entire ministry would be prayer-driven, and that God would guide her to the “truth-seekers” among the Maninka. Also, pray for Andrea as she continues to learn more of the language, and also begins teaching in the local dialect. Pray that the Lord would bless her relationships with Maninka women and their families, and that God will use those relationships to further His Kingdom. Finally, pray that the Maninka would soon learn about the Jesus we know and love, and would respond to His invitation to “Come, follow me.”
