Fund Raising and Blessing of New Hymnals

Download a sample bulletin insert that offers ideas for fundraising for Lutheran Service Book. The file is saved in Rich Text Format (RTF) and can be adapted as needed for local use. Be sure to insert the name of your church at the bottom of the second page where the words "NAME OF CHURCH" appear.

A brief of rite of blessing has also been prepared by the Commission on Worship for use in congregations and institutions. The rite is flexible in that it may be used at different times depending on the local needs of the congregation.

For instance, a congregation may choose to bless the hymnals at the beginning of a service following the Invocation and then distribute them immediately for use. Or, the hymnals may be blessed at the end of a service, prior to the Benediction, and then placed into the pews during the week for first use the following Sunday. Other uses may suggest themselves according to local circumstances.

Prior to the blessing, the hymnals may be arranged on a table near the front of the church.
