As in all vocations, the need for lifelong learning is also essential for pastors. Congregations serve a critical role in encouraging and supporting their pastor in continuing their education beyond the practical graduate program leading to ordination, Master of Divinity.
Academic Degrees
Higher learning at our seminaries provides our pastors with opportunities to pursue further academic study. These academic degrees often lead to pastoral roles in church leadership and teaching within The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

Summer 2007 Opportunities
Other opportunities exist for pastors to grow in their knowledge and develop practical leadership skills relevant to serving Christ’s church, its people, and the world. Each summer, our seminaries offer a variety of opportunities throughout the United States.
A wide variety of continuing education opportunities are available through the Concordia Seminary, Concordia Theological Seminary, LCMS Northwest District, Alban Institute, Center for Parish Development, and Health Ministries Association, Inc. >>> view schedule (PDF)
