Bible Listening Program

Banner-BibleListening

ATTENTION: Fall semester registration is now closed as we have run out of supplies for the semester. More information will be coming regarding the spring semester registration.

We are thankful to God for His blessings, as more than 25% of LCMS Lutheran schools' students grades 1-8 are participating in the Ablaze! Bible Listening program this semester.

blue-16x16.gifWhat is it?
Bible-Listening-photo1Do you believe that faith comes by hearing? Every day, in Lutheran schools, God’s Word is shared with students in its truth and purity. Our schools connect the children we serve to God’s Word. Have you ever considered how you could use your school and its students to impact their families, communities, and the world with His Word? Beginning in Fall 2008, Lutheran schools will have the opportunity to participate in a Bible listening project that moves them into mission action in their community in three ways.

blue-16x16.gifHow does it work?

  1. Listening for 20 days to the “Life of Jesus” from God’s Word—CD, digital audio player, and DVD technology allows students to listen to God’s Word at school or on-the-go.
  2. Sharing the Word of God with people you know—students hear, share, and discuss the Bible stories with their families and share Audio Bible resources with others.
  3. Bringing the Word of God to students overseas, in India—students, schools, and families get involved in supporting Bible-listening projects for students in India who also need to hear about Jesus. (This special international initiative is carried out by a partnership of Faith Comes by Hearing, LCMS World Mission, and the India Evangelical Lutheran Church—an international partner church of the LCMS.)

The Grades 1-4 program and Grades 5-8 program are available for the 2008-2009 school year, free of charge, for your students and school. This special offer is available to Lutheran schools because of the gifts of generous Christian donors, and the work of LCMS World Mission, Faith Comes By Hearing/Hosanna, and Lutheran Schools Ministries of the LCMS.

The Word Ablaze! program with a classroom listening emphasis for Grades 1-4

1. Classroom Listening: Students listen to the “life of Jesus” New Testament stories for eight minutes per day for 20 days via The Word Ablaze! Audio Bible CD. A discussion guide helps teachers guide students in talking about what they heard.

2. Sharing God’s Word with others locally: Students, along with their families and/or friends, listen to the day’s eight-minute Bible stories again at home via the easy-to-use The Word Ablaze! DVD. Each daily Bible segment includes “listen for” points, discussion questions, and a daily prayer. (Additionally, each student receives The Word Ablaze! BibleStick digital player for on-the-go listening and/or to pass to a friend. This device is loaded with an expanded Audio Bible, which includes exciting Old Testament Bible stories and songs.)

3. Sharing God’s Word internationally: Students and families join the Bible listening project challenge and raise support to bring the Word of God to students and families in India through the India Evangelical Lutheran Church schools and evangelists ($157.50 supports one Bible-listening group in India; up to 25 students).
