LCMS World Relief and Human Care is offering medical professionals opportunities to volunteer abroad in underserved regions of the world. Working with other Lutherans to spread Christ's mercy, pastors, doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals are coordinated into Mercy Medical Teams (MMT). These teams work in conjunction with LCMS partner churches and local clinics to address needs of both body and soul.

The first MMT treated nearly 1,000 patients in one week at a clinic in the infamous Kibera slums of Nairobi, Kenya (October 2006). Team members diagnosed and treated people with malaria, infections, malnutrition, and other health problems with medication bought by generous donations.
