About the Seminary
The Lutheran Theological Seminary in Pretoria, South Africa has trained more that 100 pastors for the Lutheran Church in Southern Africa.
Students study the Scriptures in their original languages (Hebrew and Greek), Lutheran Confessions, history of the church, and practical work of serving the church as a pastor.
In their six year program these men are especially trained to bring the comfort of God's Word to the African context in which they will be called.

Support the Tshwane Lutheran Seminary, Pretoria, South Africa

Many students travel thousands of miles to study at the seminary and must find housing in South Africa. A house next to the seminary was purchased for $200,000 and converted into student housing to alleviate crowding. A $120,000 loan was used to purchase the property, which a private donor planned to cover, but was unable to meet the pledge. The seminary has no means to repay the debt, so the first priority for LCMS Rocky Mountain District and LCMS World Relief and Human Care is paying off the loan.

Once the first phase is complete, the seminary board of directors and rector will work to make improvements to the library, increase classroom and office space and improve housing and dining facilities in order to obtain accreditation.

The LCMS Rocky Mountain District is also committed to the following two human care projects.

Cattle Treatment and Outreach, Durbin, South Africa
In rural Durban, keeping cattle healthy is a major concern for families who depend on the livestock to make ends meet. Along with his duties of preaching and teaching God's Word, missionary Peter Weber oversees a cattle spraying operation to keep cattle healthy, free from parasite and disease. He developed a payment plan for spraying services, ensuring that families receive the valuable service at the lowest cost.

However, the spraying facility is in need of improvements, to increase Weber's capacity to reach out to more people with Christ's mercy. Your donations would help provide:

Better cattle pens
Better cattle chutes
A newer truck

Human Care Work, Serowe, Botswana
Missionary Rev. Christoph Weber not only ministers at the Lutheran church in Serowe, Botswana, he also shares the Gospel message at a number of cattle post mission stations, some 130-miles into the Kalahari Desert. It is not uncommon for Rev. Weber to transport people back into town for medical treatment, teaching, or to purchase food.Your donations would help build a sanctuary for the church in Serowe, and living quarters for the people he transports into town for urgent needs.
