Hunger Relief — $20,000 Needed

Hunger Relief

With generous gifts from donors, LCMS World Relief and Human Care will support hunger relief programs from shore to shore.

For example, in Alaska, 12% of residents don’t know where their next meal will come from (USDA, 2007). Even with a full-time minimum wage job, families of four don’t even reach the poverty line. This forces some individuals to choose between paying for food or medical care and rent. But Lutheran Social Services of Alaska’s (LSSA) food distribution project in Anchorage offers hope for families who struggle to make ends meet.

With grant assistance from LCMS World Relief and Human Care:

  • LSSA fed 20,876 people last year and worked to address each person’s needs
  • In Wisconsin, the African Immigrant Ministry Food Pantry Program tackles the special dietary needs of nearly 350 immigrant families.
  • In Delaware, Lutheran Community Services leads food distribution programs in 12 locations that serve 60,000 people

Imagine what these organizations can do this year with your continued support. Please sustain WR-HC’s hunger relief programs with your financial gifts.
