Church Vocations

God prepares future workers for the church through a process that usually starts in the home, continues in the local congregation, and culminates in centers of higher education at the church’s colleges/universities or the seminaries.  Serving as a church professional, the worker models the joy of sharing the love of Jesus Christ through uplifting words and actions.

We Need Your Help

The trendline in the number of professional church workers is not good for the future of the church.  The number of retirees is increasing and the number of individuals entering these professions is declining.  We need men and women to serve as our church work professionals in the future to maintain our confessional teachings and Lutheran practices.  To encourage the youth of the church to be a church professional, pastors, teachers, family and others must make intentional and ongoing  connections with the youth to engage them in the possibility of serving their church as a future church professional.

You can make a difference!  Consider creation of a Recruitment Committee within your church to lift up the benefits of becoming a church work professional.  Check out other Recruitment Ideas as well.

The Board for University Education also takes responsibility for promoting consideration of church work professions.  For more information on this, click on BUE Recruitment Efforts.
