How does a congregation apply to host a team of The 72?

After the voters' assembly or other decision-making group agrees to receive a team of The 72--Partners on the Road, a representative of the congregation requests and completes the application.
Request a "Host Congregation Application" from LCMS World Mission National Outreach Ministry, 1333 S. Kirkwood Road, St. Louis, MO 63122-7295, call 1-800-433-3954.
Basic church profile questions are asked to help the coordinator of The 72 understand the congregation's needs and expectations. After much prayer and review of the congregation information, the teams are selected.
What does Outreach Ministry do with the application?
When the completed application and application fee is received from the congregation, the coordinator of The 72 calls the pastor and together they review the congregation's expectations. The duration of a team's stay with the congregation is also discussed.
A lead time of three months is helpful to select The 72 team. After much prayer and a review of the trained teams, a team selection is made. Then the team members are sent a copy of the Host Congregation Application.
After the team is selected, a phone conference is held with leaders in the congregation, district, and The 72 office personnel. This conference call helps define a specific schedule for the time of service spent in the congregation by the team.
- A team can spend 3-4 weeks with a congregation
- A congregation can partner with a team for a weekend/up to four weekends
