Michael Parris,
Serving the Lord in Macau

Bio

Rev. Michael Parris serves the Lord through LCMS World Mission as a GEO missionary in Macau. (GEO missionaries are globally engaged in outreach and serve for terms of 1-2 years in locations around the world.) Michael, along with other members of the Macau mission team, teaches English classes and leads Bible studies at the Concordia English Center, in addition to planning and carrying out special outreach events on a regular basis. Through these activities, Michael and others have opportunities to share the Gospel with their students as they build relationships with them. As an ordained pastor, Michael also provides pastoral care to his fellow missionaries in Macau.

Michael was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa. He is currently the pastor of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Riceville, Iowa, and is serving in Macau during a sabbatical year. Michael previously served as pastor of other congregations in Iowa and Nebraska. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa, his Master of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind., and his Master of Family Life from Concordia University Nebraska, Seward, Neb. Michael has two daughters, Rebekah, who lives in Riceville, Iowa, with her husband and daughter, Evenlyn, and Rachel, who lives in Binghampton, N.Y. In his free time, Michael enjoys running, gardening, woodwork, fishing and archery.

Prayers

Please pray for Michael as he serves in Macau. Pray that God would bless the relationships he builds with students and that the Holy Spirit would open many doors of opportunity to share the Gospel and plant seeds of faith in students’ hearts. Ask the Lord to bless and protect the missionaries serving in Macau, and to use Michael as His instrument to encourage, comfort and teach them. Finally, give thanks that Michael has answered God’s call to serve as His witness in Macau!
