Rev. Dr. Brent and Jennie Smith,
Serving the Lord in Eurasia
The Rev. Dr. Brent and Jennie Smith serve the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod based out of Frankfurt, Germany. Brent serves as the regional director for Eurasia, an area that includes Europe, the former Soviet Union, and part of the Middle East. In this role, Brent works with national churches and other partners in mission initiatives among people who do not yet know the Lord Jesus Christ. He also provides leadership and support to missionaries and facilitates interaction among Muslims in the region.
Born in Imperial, Neb., Brent and his family are members of Zion Lutheran Church, Imperial. A graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, he left his job in public accounting and began service with the LCMS as the business manager for the Kazakhstan field in 1995. After two years of service there, Brent entered Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Mo. During the 1999-2000 school year, he served his vicarage at a Lutheran church in Moscow, Russia. In 2006, he began service as regional director and in 2010 finished a doctorate through Trinity International University, Deerfield, Ill.
Jennie is a native of Broken Bow, Neb. She is a graduate from the University of Nebraska—Lincoln with a degree in business administration and worked in the field of human resources at Union Bank in Lincoln, Neb. She enjoys exercising, reading, and volunteering at their kids’ German school, Trinity Lutheran Church, and the American Women’s Club in Frankfurt am Main. The Smiths have a son, Zachary, and two daughters, Katelyn and Sophia.
Please pray for the entire Eurasia team — that they would be blessed with excellent working relationships and a clear vision of God’s work. Also ask God to help the Smith family increase fluency in German. Pray for their health and safety, especially as Brent’s position requires extensive travel for preaching and teaching in the region. They also ask, “Pray that the Word of God will boldly be appropriately proclaimed in all of its forms, so that people will trust in Christ alone and, in turn, be compelled by the Spirit to share Christ with others.”
