The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod began work in Uruguay in 1960.

In 1993, LCMS World Relief and Human Care began mercy work support in Uruguay with a grant to upgrade the sanitation system in a church and school.

LCMS World Mission periodically supports various projects in support of the national Lutheran church in Uruguay. LCMS World Mission partners with a Lutheran congregation in Montevideo, Uruguay, to increase Lutheran outreach and mission.

The LCMS Recognized Service Organization, Children’s Christian Concern Society, also provides educational scholarships for students and teacher salaries at Lutheran schools in Uruguay.

LCMS World Mission partners with a Lutheran congregation in Montevideo, Uruguay, to increase Lutheran outreach and mission in the small South American nation of Uruguay. The mission in this city has the potential to reach many Uruguayans who have never heard the central message of the Gospel—that God offers them salvation through faith alone in Jesus Christ.
