The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod began mission work in El Salvador in 1977 with a grant for an education and nutrition project. Since then, Synod’s mercy arm has supported medical care, earthquake relief and disaster preparedness training, agriculture assistance, and sewing and literacy programs for women.
Children Christian Concern's Society, an LCMS Recognized Service Organization, also provides educational scholarships for students and teacher salaries at Lutheran schools in El Salvador.
