Rev. Jonathan Anderson

Missionary

Serving the Lord in Panama

Bio

The Rev. Jonathan Anderson serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as a missionary in Panama. In this role, Jonathan preaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the local people, while supporting the established congregations in the area and helping to plant new Lutheran churches.

Jonathan is from Greer, S.C., and his home congregation is Immanuel Lutheran Church, Simpsonville, S.C. He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Clemson University (2009), his MBA in international business from the University of South Carolina (2011), and his Master of Divinity (2024) and Master of Sacred Theology in Systematic Theology (2025) from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne. Before becoming a missionary, Jonathan worked in construction project management, industrial services management, acquisition integration and Lean facilitation. He was a vicar at Trinity Lutheran Church in Norman, Okla., from 2022 to 2023. In his free time, he enjoys reading, hiking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Prayers

Pray for Jonathan as he serves in Panama. Ask God to give him safety and good health as he travels and proclaims the Word of God. May God grant him wisdom and strength as he serves the Lord in this new location, learning a new language and culture. May the Gospel be received by all whom he meets, and may the church in Panama grow according to God’s will. Give thanks to God for sending Jonathan to serve His children in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose, when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution toward another aspect of ministry that aligns closely the contributor’s goals and values. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.

Consistent with Synod Board policy and in recognition of a more challenging economic and philanthropic/fundraising environment due to inflationary pressure, not more than 14 percent of any charitable contribution will be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors. Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
