Synodwide Efforts & Initiatives

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) prioritizes and engages in several collective efforts and initiatives that center on spreading the Gospel, caring for God’s people and furthering the mission of the church.

Hugging

Church Worker Wellness

Healthy church workers make for a healthy church, even though the work is demanding. Church Worker Wellness advocates for church workers by nurturing their spiritual, emotional and physical wellness, as well as often-overlooked areas like financial and intellectual wellness. In this way, the LCMS safeguards those in church work vocations so they can carry out their service faithfully.
SATS

Set Apart to Serve

Through the Set Apart to Serve (SAS) effort, the LCMS is building a culture of church work formation and recruitment throughout Synod that will impact many generations to come. Our Lord works through us to carry out His work and His mission, and it is our joy to prioritize the raising up of future pastors and church workers who will serve well.

Religious Liberty:
Free to be Faithful

Free to be Faithful is a flourishing religious liberty campaign designed by the LCMS to inform and mobilize the church to attend to cultural issues like marriage and sanctity of life, to protect religious freedom in our country and to boldly confess the Christian faith in the public square.

Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty

In tandem with the Free to be Faithful campaign, the Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty offers the church a vast collection of resources to help Lutherans stay faithful on issues of marriage, sanctity of life and religious liberty. The Center also acts as an advocate for our LCMS churches and schools, engaging with key partners in Washington, D.C., on our behalf.
Seminary

Global Seminary Initiative

The LCMS is invested not only in world-class seminary education here in our homeland, but also around the world. The Global Seminary Initiative serves to equip and support international partner churches as they raise up pastors and future leaders through sound theological education — both at our seminaries and at theirs.
Tell the Next Generation

Tell the Next Generation

In Psalm 78, our Lord reminds us of the great privilege we have to share the faith we’ve been given with our children and all people. Our Synodwide emphasis, Tell the Next Generation, invites the whole church, joyfully and intentionally, to proclaim Christ and what He has done through all generations so that all may know God’s love and receive His gifts.
