Congregational Treasurer’s Manual
We don’t have to look far to find people in need of the Gospel.
Right here where we live, in our own communities, are countless opportunities to serve our neighbor, show mercy to those in need, and gather people around Christ and His gifts.
LCMS National Mission provides support and resources for the work of LCMS districts, congregations and schools as they reach out in their local communities.
Best of all, every ounce of the work is centered on Christ’s Gospel and His commission to the church to “make disciples” (Matt. 28:19). Word and Sacrament ministry is the heart of God’s mission and is central to every program or resource supported by LCMS National Mission. Together we can do more than we could ever do individually.
Lutheran Early Response Team volunteer Bryce Cramer uses skills learned in his former career to serve those affected by disasters.
Salem Lutheran Church, Jacksonville, Ill., shares Christ’s love with the community by providing diapers, wipes and other baby items for local families — no matter what language they speak.
Families of Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield, Mo., receive support from their congregation to build intentional practices of faith formation in their homes.
God’s mission is all around us, and your gift provides many opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the neighbors He has placed in our communities. The Office of National Mission works within the borders of the United States to support and enhance the programs and resources available to congregations, districts, schools, Recognized Service Organizations and other Lutheran organizations.
Our work in the LCMS Office of National Mission is to serve LCMS congregations and schools, work with the 35 districts of the Synod, and help equip God’s people for witness and mercy work. As you read this booklet, you’ll find out more about our ministry areas and priority projects. We accomplish these projects and serve in these areas by providing resources, partnering with people who have shared ministry priorities, and providing encouragement and godly counsel to the church in North America.
