Daniel and Marie Lowitz

ESL Teachers and Outreach Specialists

Serving the Lord in the Dominican Republic

Bio

Daniel and Marie Lowitz serve the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as missionaries in the Dominican Republic. They both serve as English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) teachers and outreach specialists. In this role, Daniel and Marie teach English to non-native English speakers, thus providing practical assistance while also serving as a vehicle for the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In addition, they find and create opportunities to bring members of the community together in the mercy of Christ.

Daniel is from West Bend, Wis., and the family’s home congregation is Living Word Lutheran Church in Jackson, Wis. Daniel has a bachelor’s degree in business entrepreneurship from Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon, Wis. From 2021 to 2024, he served as a camp counselor at Camp LuWiSoMo in Wild Rose, Wis. In 2024, he went on a mission trip to Puerto Rico. In his free time, Daniel enjoys playing guitar, longboarding and hiking.

Marie is from Oconomowoc, Wis. She has a director of church ministries degree with a minor in theater from Concordia University Wisconsin. She previously worked as a writing consultant at Concordia and as a camp counselor at Camp LuWiSoMo. She has served on a number of short-term mission trips, including to Thailand, Turkey, Nicaragua, the Czech Republic and Puerto Rico. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, cooking and running.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose, when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution toward another aspect of ministry that aligns closely the contributor’s goals and values. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.

Consistent with Synod Board policy and in recognition of a more challenging economic and philanthropic/fundraising environment due to inflationary pressure, not more than 14 percent of any charitable contribution will be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors. Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
