About

Nora Betts serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as a regional communication specialist for the Latin America and the Caribbean region. From her base in Santiago, Dominican Republic, she helps raise awareness of how God is working in the region through LCMS missionaries to spread the Gospel, plant Lutheran churches and show mercy.
From Scranton, Penn., Nora is a recent graduate of Concordia University, Nebraska (CUNE), where she received her B.A. in English, Journalism and Public Relations, all while taking part in the Pre-Deaconess program. While at CUNE, she worked for the student newspaper, The Sower, writing articles, illustrating cartoons, taking photographs, creating crosswords and ultimately working as managing editor. She interned for Concordia Publishing House in 2025 and has worked as a news intern and freelance reporter for The Citizens’ Voice, a newspaper in her home state. Her home congregation is Peace Lutheran Church in Scranton, Penn.
Nora has previously served through short-term mission work, volunteering as a teacher’s aide at a Christian boarding school for vulnerable children in South Africa in 2022.
Pray for Nora as she serves in the Dominican Republic and the Latin America and the Caribbean region. Ask God to give her comfort, strength and guidance as she transitions to a new location, language and culture. Pray also that God would use Nora’s gifts and talents to help further His kingdom, that more might be brought to the saving power of Christ through her work. Let us give thanks to God that Nora is serving God's people in this part of the world.
