The Rev. Dr. David and Joyce Erber serve the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Africa.David serves as the field coordinator for the Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, online Master of Arts in Theology program for pastors in Africa. The students are senior African pastors who teach in their own local seminaries and/or serve in national and regional leadership positions. The pastors, from Ghana, Kenya, South Sudan and Uganda, provide significant leadership for their churches and fellow pastors. These men live and serve in their home countries and meet in classes over Zoom, gathering occasionally for in-person classes.
Joyce serves as the regional business manager for the LCMS Africa region. She manages the financial and accounting dynamics for LCMS missionaries and mission projects in 25 countries in Africa. In addition to serving the missionaries, Joyce also works closely with the other world area business managers and the office staff at the LCMS International Center.
David and Joyce have served as LCMS missionaries since 1986, living first in Nigeria and then in Ghana. They have three grown children and four grandchildren.
Pray that the Erbers are given wisdom and strength as David supports the men who are training and equipping the next generation of pastors across Africa and as Joyce takes care of the many financial and administrative details that enable LCMS missionaries to serve throughout Africa. Let us give thanks to God for David and Joyce as they serve His people in Africa.
