About

Chandra Thurman has served with The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) since April 2013 and currently serves as director of Missionary Network Care and Support within Mission Advancement. In this role, she manages the day-to-day activities of two sections within the department.

Thurman leads efforts that connect congregations and households with LCMS missionaries worldwide through the Together in Mission (TIM) program, which helps congregations partner with missionaries, and the Mission Senders program, which helps individuals partner with missionaries. She also supervises the Missionary Network Support program coordinator and four deployed staff members based at Mission Central in Mapleton, Iowa.

In addition to her missionary support responsibilities, Thurman oversees the manager of grant and foundation proposals and the grants coordinator. Together, this team provides essential grant writing, proposal review and reporting to funding agencies, foundations and organizations that support the mission of the LCMS.

Thurman holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Xavier University of Louisiana and a Master of Business Administration from Fontbonne University. Her leadership reflects a strong commitment to strategic program development, relational care and intentional partnership in global mission work.

She is married to Richard, and together they are the proud parents of four beautiful children.
