Erin Alter is director of Short-Term Mission for the LCMS Office of International Mission (OIM). In this role, she connects individuals and congregations with the work that the LCMS is doing around the world to spread the Gospel, plant Lutheran churches and show mercy. The Synod's short-term teams get to walk alongside our missionaries and church partners for 1-2 weeks at a time (in most cases). Before coming to work in the OIM, Alter served as a missionary in Japan for 3.5 years. Since joining the department, she has served in various roles, including in recruitment for GEO and career missionaries. She is a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in St. Louis.
