Krista Young's first name is a shortened version of Kristen (“Christian” in the Pidgin language spoken in Papua New Guinea, where she was born and raised) and means “follower of Christ.” As a missionary kid and child of Lutheran school teachers Richard and Loretta Adler, who dedicated their lives to the work of the church, Young saw what it meant to be a follower of Christ in all circumstances.Before joining LCMS Mission Advancement as a mission advocate, Young was blessed to share her gifts as a director of Christian education and as a missionary in East Africa. She is in awe of the many ways our church is sharing the love of Jesus around the world. She gets excited to share the many ways God's faithful people pray and support the mission of spreading the Gospel to family, neighbors and the ends of the earth.
One of Young's favorite Bible verses is Psalm 139:14: “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” We all have unique stories of God's provision and faithfulness in our lives that we can use to encourage and uplift each other. To God be the glory!
