Kate Phillips

Serving the Lord in the Dominican Republic

Bio

Kate Phillips serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as a missionary in the Dominican Republic. In her role as a deaconess intern, she works with the pastoral staff at a local church plant. She connects with and teaches youth and women, both in the community and when doing evangelistic visits. Kate also assists in the mercy work being done in the Dominican Republic through the mercy houses in this country.

Kate’s hometown is Arnold, Md., and her home congregation is St. Paul Lutheran Church, Annapolis, Md. She received bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and chemistry from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. Kate is currently enrolled at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind., where she is working to receive a master’s degree in deaconess studies. Before attending seminary, she worked as a math educator in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. In her free time, Kate enjoys cooking, traveling, photography, crocheting and outdoor recreation.

Prayers

Please pray for Kate as she serves the church and people in the Dominican Republic. Ask God to guide her as she prepares to transition to the mission field. Pray that God gives her the patience and dedication in learning the Spanish language. Ask God to be with her family and friends who are back home in the United States. Pray for the missionary team serving in the Dominican Republic, as well as the Dominican people, that they may receive and show God’s mercy in all that they do. Let us give thanks to God that Kate is serving His children in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution differently. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.  Consistent with Synod Board policy, no more than 12 percent of a charitable contribution may be applied to administering gifts and communicating with contributors.  Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
