Tell the Next Generation
“We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and His might, and the wonders that He has done.” (Psalm 78:4)
During its 2026 national convention, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) selected the above verse from Psalm 78 to serve as the theme for its mission and ministry emphasis over the coming triennium (2026–2029).
That emphasis, Tell the Next Generation, reflects the faith we have in a Heavenly Father who loves His creation so much that He sent His only begotten Son to redeem that creation by dying on a cross to destroy sin, death and the devil and rising three days later so that, by the Spirit’s power, all people might become children of God.
The church is now called to share that marvelous Good News with all the world, starting with our children, youth and young adults. We tell the next generation “the glorious deeds of the Lord” so that they may do the same, carrying that message of Christ’s love — “and His might, and the wonders that He has done” — to all generations, even to the end of the age.
