Rafael and Jamielynn (Tinkey) Flores

Serving the Lord in the Latin America and Caribbean Region

Bio

Jamielynn (Tinkey) Flores, B.S.N., R.N., has served the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as a missionary in the Latin America and Caribbean region since July 2016. In August 2020, Jamielynn married Rafael Flores, who was a seminary student at Concordia the Reformer Seminary in the Dominican Republic (DR), where they met and served together. Rafael graduated from the seminary in May 2022, and they now serve in the Confessional Lutheran Church of Chile.

In her missionary role, Jamielynn uses her nursing background and ongoing theological studies to coordinate life ministry efforts and community health education in Lutheran churches throughout Latin America. She works to translate and create resources that meet the needs of both partner churches and mission plants as they approach topics of life and death, family, and relationships.

Jamielynn was born and raised in Warsaw, Ind., and studied at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Ind. She continues to study Lutheran theology through the distance deaconess program at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, to strengthen her witness, particularly in the area of life ministry. Rafael was born and raised in Venezuela and moved to Chile in 2016, before coming to study at the DR seminary in 2018.

Prayers

Please pray for Rafael and Jamielynn as they serve the churches and people in Latin America. Ask God to watch over their study of His Word, their work in His church and their daily witness to Jesus. Give thanks for the clear Gospel that is being preached across the region and the opportunities Rafael and Jamielynn have to continue serving God’s church in this way.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose, when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution toward another aspect of ministry that aligns closely the contributor’s goals and values. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.

Consistent with Synod Board policy and in recognition of a more challenging economic and philanthropic/fundraising environment due to inflationary pressure, not more than 12.5 percent of any charitable contribution will be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors (compared to a not-more-than ceiling of 10.5 percent the previous fiscal year). Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
