About
"The Rev. Steven Mahlburg serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as a missionary in Japan. In this role, he provides pastoral care for local residents, military personnel and expatriates. He conducts worship services and teaches Bible studies and catechism classes at several mission stations. As he learns the language and culture, he looks for opportunities to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the communities around him. After 20 years as a parish pastor in Michigan, Steven accepted a call to international mission service. He first served in Sri Lanka alongside the Ceylon Evangelical Lutheran Church, an LCMS partner church, offering administrative and logistical support, mentoring pastors and evangelists, and preaching and teaching in local congregations.
Steven is supported by his wife, Martha. Both grew up in the Detroit area, met at a band camp they attended while in high school, and graduated together from Central Michigan University before heading to St. Louis, where Steven studied at Concordia Seminary. The pair have five adult children, all of whom lived with them in Sri Lanka and later returned to the United States after graduation.
Steven and Martha are grateful for the prayers and support of congregations and individuals who make this ministry possible.
Please pray for the Mahlburg family as they serve the Lord in Japan. Ask the Lord to grant them strength, wisdom and open doors to share the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ. Pray that the Holy Spirit would soften and open hearts to receive the Gospel throughout Japan."
