Pakistan

  •  Country Summary
  • Today, in northeastern Pakistan, Harvest Lutheran Church provides approximately 500 Pakistani Christians with opportunities to grow in their faith. Additionally, the church is a registered agency which operates the newly-established seminary and health center.

The health center, located in a predominantly Christian village, serves the 10,000 Christians and Muslims from 12 surrounding villages. The health center is basic, but the nearest facility is otherwise more than six miles away. With poor road conditions, it would be impossible for the critically ill to find taxis to make the trip.

Since religious organizations are allowed to operate in a limited manner in Pakistan, People of the Book Lutheran Outreach and the LCMS established a seminary to train male and female leaders from Central Asia.

The LCMS first supported mercy work in Pakistan in 2003 with start-up funds for human care efforts (medical care and education).
