Mary Ettner,
Serving the Lord in Vietnam

Bio

Mary Ettner serves the Lord and the people of Vietnam through the LCMS as a service coordinator and educator in Hanoi. Mary helps to plan for and host short-term teams who come to Vietnam from the U.S. to do human care and educational work. She also is an educator at Concordia International School Hanoi and Hanoi International Church, which provides her with opportunities to serve and teach families of the international community living in Hanoi.

Mary grew up in Phoenix, Ariz., and now considers San Jose, Calif., her hometown. Her home congregation is Christ Church Lutheran in Phoenix. Mary graduated from Concordia University, Irvine, Calif., in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian education leadership through their director of Christian education program. She also studied at the Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute in Camrose, Alberta, and received a diploma in the Christian Discipleship Program in April 2009. Mary has previously served on a short-term team to India and Nepal; as a children and youth ministry assistant at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Aliso Viejo, Calif.; and as a camp counselor and main site coordinator at Mt. Cross Lutheran Camp in Felton, Calif. In her free time, Mary enjoys playing the guitar, drinking coffee, listening to music, hiking, backpacking, other outdoor activities and traveling.

Prayers

Please pray for Mary as she serves in Vietnam. She asks, “Pray that I will continue to trust in God as He guides me in His ways and into a new country to share His love with people in need. Pray that God would give me confidence to do His will. Pray also for the people of Vietnam—that they would know God’s love for them.” Finally, give thanks that Mary has answered God’s call to serve the people of Vietnam!
