Sean P. Harlow,
Serving the Lord in the Philippines and Taiwan

Bio

Sean P. Harlow serves through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod as a career missionary in the Asia Pacific region where he partners and serves alongside members of the Lutheran Church in the Philippines (LCP), as well as the China Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taiwan (CELC). Sean serves as a special assistant to both the LCP President James Cerdenola and CELC President Andrew Miao. Sean is based in Taiwan.

 In his role, Sean supports the LCP and CELC in ways that will assist and help the churches focus on outreach and evangelism to include: administrative support, advising and encouraging congregations in their outreach effort and exploring opportunities for future ministries. Sean also helps coordinate short-term service trips as well as disaster relief projects when necessary.

Sean, known by friends as Sean P., grew up in Detroit and the St. Louis suburbs, and later graduated from Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Mich., with a bachelor’s degree in music and communications. He previously worked as a placement counselor in the international missionary recruitment unit of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. He later moved to Portland, Ore. His home congregation is Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Portland. Sean has previously served in short- and long-term capacities in the continental United States, Hawaii, Taiwan, the Philippines, Mexico and China. Sean enjoys music, cooking, biking, hiking, fishing, tennis, racquetball, gardening and studying Mandarin.

Prayers

Please pray for Sean as he serves in Asia Pacific. Ask the Lord to protect him as he travels throughout the region. Pray for God to provide clear direction and guidance for the work in congregations of the LCP throughout the Philippines as well as the CELC in Taiwan. Finally, pray for unity and focus on God’s mission within all the congregations and preaching stations of the LCP and CELC. Pray that Filipino and Taiwanese Lutherans would be encouraged and motivated to serve and love one another.
