Melissa Karges,
Serving the Lord in Hungary

Bio

Melissa Karges serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod as a GEO missionary in Sopron, Hungary. (GEO missionaries serve in locations around the world for terms of 1-2 years.) In this role, Melissa teaches conversational English full-time to high school students and builds relationships with them in and outside of the classroom, praying that the Lord would provide opportunities for her to share the Gospel with them.
 
Melissa is from Dayton, Nev., and she is a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Carson City, Nev. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in behavioral science and an associate's degree in missiology from Concordia University, Irvine, Calif., where she was also a part of the pre-deaconess program. Melissa served on two short-term mission trips to Hungary during her time as a student at Concordia Irvine, which God used to introduce her to the Hungarian people and ministry among them. Melissa enjoys singing, piano, reading, running and baking in her free time.

Prayers

Please pray for Melissa as she serves in Hungary. She writes, “Pray that God would remove obstacles to the Gospel in my students' lives. Ask the Lord to provide the Hungarian church with renewal and strength—for the youth to be built up and that a generation lost under communist rule would be reached. Pray that Hungarians who already know Jesus as their Savior would be bold and effective witnesses through the Holy Spirit. Pray for the relationships that I already have with many Hungarians would grow and be strengthened. Finally, ask that God would grant me wisdom, strength and growth in my personal relationship with Christ, so that I may be an effective instrument for furthering His kingdom.”
