Bio

Rev. Steve and Mary Kosberg serve the Lord in Seoul, South Korea, where Steve is the pastor of International Lutheran Church. International Lutheran Church serves the English-speaking population of Seoul, providing Christ-centered Word and Sacrament ministry, as well as outreach opportunities, for its members and visitors. It is co-supported by The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. North Americans comprise about 40 percent of International Lutheran Church’s membership, with an additional 40 percent of Korean background and 20 percent from other countries throughout the world. The Kosbergs have served in South Korea since 2009.

The Kosbergs are previously from Minnesota, where they are members of Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato. Steve is a graduate of Concordia College (now University), St. Paul, Minn., Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Before relocating to South Korea, the Kosbergs served as LCMS missionaries in Papua New Guinea, in ministry among the Hmong people in the United States, as missionaries in Alaska and, finally, at Hosanna Lutheran, Mankato, from 1996 to 2009. In their free time, Steve and Mary enjoy exploring the many facets of the Korean culture and people.

Prayers

Pray that those who attend International Lutheran Church would be strengthened and encouraged in their faith through its ministry, and that God would use them to share the Gospel in their communities throughout Seoul. Give thanks for the cross-cultural ministry of this congregation, which provides an example of the multi-cultural composition of Christ’s family. Finally, give thanks that the Kosbergs have answered God’s call to serve in this capacity.
