Gustavo and Rosana Lavia,
Serving the Lord in Spain

Bio

Rev. Gustavo and Rosana Lavia serve as Alliance Missionaries in Spain through a partnership between the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Argentina and The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Gustavo serves as a mission planter and the director of the Internet-based Lutheran Bible Institute, which provides theological training for Spanish people exploring the Lutheran faith, laypeople and future pastors. The developing Evangelical Lutheran Church of Spain includes groups who meet for worship in five locations across the country. Gustavo also provides a weekly order of service for Lutheran families at the various locations, so that they may lead their families in worship at home when a formal service is not offered.

Gustavo and Rosana are both from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Gustavo was trained at Concordia Seminary in Buenos Aires, and then served the congregation of Concordia Lutheran Church in Buenos Aires. Prior to leaving for Spain, Rosana worked in Buenos Aires as a biochemist. The Lavias have two daughters: Rocío and Maite. They live in Madrid, the capital of Spain.

Prayers

Please pray for the Lavias as they live and serve in Spain. Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of the Spanish people and come to faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Ask the Lord to watch over the Lavias as they travel frequently throughout Spain to visit the small congregations in different cities. Pray for the Lord to raise up Spanish Lutherans to serve as lay leaders and pastors. Finally, give thanks that the Lavias have answered the Lord’s call to serve in Spain!
