Since assuming the role of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Foundation president in February, I have had the remarkable opportunity to see how the Lord has blessed the Foundation in its ministry support role of providing donors, congregations, and ministry organizations with comprehensive charitable expertise and services. Most amazing to me is that since its establishment in 1958 — through the Lord’s blessing and the hard work of many dedicated servants — the Foundation has distributed more than $1 billion to the ministry organizations of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. The Foundation assists the Synod’s congregations, colleges, universities, and seminaries by investing their monies for economic growth. We teach pastors and other administrators how to develop stewardship plans within their own place of ministry. We meet in Christian homes to design charitable estate gift plans to care for family and establish legacies to benefit LCMS ministry. We help mobilize disaster relief and provide resources for missions around the globe.
We now ask for your support which enables us to continue our service to the church. These challenging economic times are why we created the Second Century Fund. This operational endowment provides the means to continue carrying out our vision of service to you and the LCMS, providing ministry growth opportunities to the LCMS. The Foundation’s goal is to add $100,000 to the balance of the Second Century Fund. This ambitious goal is achievable when measured against the collective support you and others have so generously provided to the ministries of the LCMS.
Please join me and support the LCMS Foundation Second Century Fund with your gift of $50, $100, $500 or any other amount as the Lord guides you.
Thank you in advance for your prayerful consideration and may God bless you this Christmas season.
