Operation Barnabas

America’s sons and daughters are in harm’s way in faraway lands. Their families wait in places like Iowa, Minnesota, in our communities. Many families don’t have easy access to base support structures. They feel very alone.

You can make a difference. Help us to reach out to these spouses and their children who wait for their loved one to return home. Your church can literally bring hope and friendship to those in the greatest struggle of their lives.

HOW DO WE GET INVOLVED?

• Celebrate Armed Forces Sunday and recognize veterans in your congregation and community. Access resources here.

• We will offer a District Workshop in your area in the near future. In that workshop, we will help you find ways to connect with military families in your area, help you assess your resources, and offer ways to reach out to military families with the love of Christ. There is a small charge for the workshop, and you will receive a congregational planning workbook. In addition, you will meet your Distict Barnabas Counselor. He will serve as a resource for your congregation as you move forward with this ministry. To get started, simply fill out the form below, and we’ll be in touch shortly!

There is not a moment that goes by when your loved one is not far from your thoughts. And we want to let you know that you are not forgotten.

It’s nice to see magnets on cars and yellow ribbons. It’s even better to see tangible acts of caring to our military families. That is what we are about. If you feel alone, and especially if you are not close to a post or base, we’d like to help. It might be help with child care for a few hours, or for the entire deployment. It might be someone to just listen. Or maybe a little help with car maintenance. Maybe someone to help with the confusing maze of Tricare or military pay. If it’s important to you, it’s important to us.

We are the churches of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and we have over 6,000 congregations. There is probably one not too far from you. And we’d like to help.
