Ed Szeto- Biography

Ed Szeto is special projects coordinator for LCMS Life Ministries, an LCMS ministry.
He served as the director of outreach for National Lutherans For Life (LFL) from 2003 to 2007. During that time, Szeto traveled more than 190,000 miles and spoke to more than 27,000 people of all ages in a variety of settings. He has spoken at Lutheran and Christian elementary schools, Lutheran high schools and on college campuses across the country. Some of the college campuses Szeto has visited include Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Central Michigan State University; Concordia University Chicago, River Forest, Ill.; Concordia University, Portland, Ore.; Dickinson (N.D.) State College; Iowa State University (Ames); Kansas State University (Manhattan); Kansas University (Lawrence); Kansas University Medical Center (Kansas City) and Valparaiso University.
Szeto is the founding president of Lutherans For Life of the Mid-Atlantic States, the regional affiliate of Lutherans For Life that serves Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C. He has been an active member of LFL since 1997 and helped organize local and regional events in New Jersey, Virginia and Pennsylvania. He also served in various positions within LFL including as president of the Jersey Shore chapter. He helped organize the chapter's annual Diaper Derby, edited a monthly newsletter, and volunteered at Lutheran Women’s Missionary League zone rallies, church events and the LCMS New Jersey District conventions.
At Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, Point Pleasant, N.J., Szeto served on the board of trustees and board of elders. He served as both Sunday school superintendent and as Sunday school teacher. He was involved with the VBS program for six years and led adult Bible study groups. He also led adult Bible studies at St. John Lutheran Church, State Center, Iowa, and at his current congregation, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Va.
Szeto has also been involved in his community, serving on the board of trustees of the Open Door Pregnancy Center in Toms River, N.J., for three and a half years. During most of his tenure, he served as the treasurer of the organization.
A commissioned lay minister of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, Szeto has a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering from Boston University. He is currently a pursuing a Master of Arts in bioethics from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Ill.
