Bio
As an Alliance Missionary, Rev. Michael Wu is an important member of our outreach team in Macau, which is a Special Administrative Region of China. He is an experienced pastor of the China Evangelical Lutheran Church (CELC) in Taiwan and moved to Macau in January 2003 to serve through a joint partnership among the CELC, Concordia School for Special Education in Macau and The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Michael’s initial assignment was to serve as a chaplain for the school and as an evangelist attached to the Concordia English Outreach Center in Macau. Since January 2007, though, his position has grown to include focusing on leadership training in East Asia, helping to develop curriculum and to train lay leaders in the church. His work includes teaching evangelists and deacons, as well as working with church leaders and teachers in East Asia who are equipping lay people for ministry.
Michael is married to Grace, and they have two children, Daniel and Esther. Michael did his theological training in Taiwan and served from 1988 to 1993 as a church planter in Kaohsiung there. He then served as pastor of Mercy Lutheran Church in Taoyuan. He completed his B.TH. work at Taiwan’s China Lutheran Seminary in 1988 abnd completed his M.Div five years later.
Prayers
Michael says, “I am very happy to be a part of this team ministry,” Michael says. “I feel it to be an honor to be a part of this, an eternal work. I believe that the Gospel is the thing that can change our hearts and the hearts of those with whom we share it.” Give thanks that the Lord has brought Michael to Macau, where God is using him to share the Gospel and mentor new believers. Pray that the Lord would protect Michael in his travels and provide him with wisdom for the best places and ways to work, with so many ministry possibilities.
