Bio

Deaconess Intern Katie Ziegler serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod as a missionary in the Dominican Republic. Katie’s service includes teaching and mentoring Dominican women who are studying to become deaconesses. Additionally, she visits and teaches people with disabilities — especially the residents of Good Shepherd Lutheran Home — as well as local children and parishioners.

Katie is from Omaha, Neb., and her home congregation is First Lutheran Church, Papillion, Neb. She holds an associate’s degree in baking and pastry from Metropolitan Community College; a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Concordia University Nebraska, Seward, Neb.; and is working toward a master’s degree in theology and diaconal training from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind., which she will receive upon completion of her deaconess internship in the Dominican Republic. Katie completed her deaconess field work at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bingen, Ind., and studied at Westfield House in Cambridge, England, for one year of her theological training. In her free time, Katie enjoys hiking, running, walking, biking, traveling, music, baking, reading and hosting parties.

Prayers

Please pray for Katie as she serves in the Dominican Republic. Pray that the Lord would provide the financial and prayer support necessary to sustain the ministry there. Pray for the strong spiritual and educational formation of her deaconess students and the children and adults whom she serves in Christ’s name. Pray that God would use Katie as an instrument of mercy. Finally, give thanks for Katie and the entire LCMS team in Latin America.
