Serving the Lord in Burkina Faso, West Africa

Debra works with other LCMS missionaries as the Area Communications Director for West Africa.

Stuart and Debra grew up in the Plymouth, Neb., area. Their home congregation is Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wahoo, Neb. Stuart received a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern College, Watertown, Wis., and his Master of Divinity from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon. Debra received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Bellevue University, Bellevue, Neb.

In 1995, they joined The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. In 2015, Stuart completed his colloquy with the LCMS. Over the years, both of them have worked for various government and private organizations. They have been active in their congregation, teaching Sunday school, Bible classes and confirmation classes. In their free time, the Freeses enjoy fishing, hunting and camping. Debra is also involved in crafting and photography.

Stuart and Debra have two children whom they adopted while they were serving in Colombia - Alicia who is a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps., and Caleb who is a camp counselor. Caleb joins Stuart and Debra on the mission field. They also have a granddaughter Elenor.

Please pray for the Freeses as they serve in Burkina Faso and other West African countries. Ask God to use them in a special way to open the hearts of the people in these countries to the knowledge and saving grace of Jesus Christ. Pray that God strengthens Stuart and Debra for the work He has prepared for them to do. Ask God to keep them safe as they travel throughout this area of Africa proclaiming the Gospel. Let us give thanks to God that the Freeses have answered His call to serve His children in this part of the world.
