Rev. David and Jennifer Preus

Serving the Lord in the Dominican Republic

Rev. David and Jennifer Preus serve the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the Dominican Republic, based in Santiago de los Caballeros. In this role, David serves the church through Word and Sacrament ministry in the village of Palmar Arriba. He also is on the teaching faculty of Seminario Concordia el Reformador.

David was born in Fort Wayne, Ind. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, Minn. He received his Master of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind., and his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Before heading to the Dominican Republic, David served as a pastor at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Billings, Mont. (2011-2015).

Jennifer was born in Lake Forest, Ill. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, Minn., as well. She also received a master’s degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato. David and Jennifer have eight beautiful children — Hans, Rebekah, Rolf, Lena, Søren, Leif, Andreas and Lars — who are with them on the mission field.

Pray for the Preus family as they serve in the Dominican Republic. Pray for the church in the Dominican Republic, including its pastors and seminarians. Ask God to give His wisdom to the LCMS missionary team in this region as they seek to share the Gospel with and minister in mercy to the local people. Ask God to guide this team as they network and centralize mission efforts across this region of the world. Pray the hearts of people here in the United States are moved to pray for and to financially support the Preuses so they can be a part of this mission work. Let us give thanks to God that the Preus family is serving His children in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose, when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution toward another aspect of ministry that aligns closely the contributor’s goals and values. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.

Consistent with Synod Board policy and in recognition of the joyful response and generosity of God’s people over the past fiscal year, not more than 10.5 percent of any charitable contribution will be allocated to administering gifts and communicating with contributors (compared to a not-more-than ceiling of 13.5 percent the previous fiscal year). Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
