Rev. David and Jennifer Preus

Serving the Lord in the Dominican Republic

Rev. David and Jennifer Preus serve the Lord as missionaries through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the Dominican Republic. In this role, David plants new churches in this country. He forms and develops groups of believers into mature, self-sustaining and self-replicating congregations through Word and Sacrament ministry. He also helps with theological education as needed and works with local deaconesses in their mercy care ministries throughout the country.

David was born in Fort Wayne, Ind. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, Minn. He received his Master of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind. He is currently working on his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Mo. Before heading to the Dominican Republic, David served as a pastor at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Billings, Mont. (2011-2015). In his free time, he enjoys hiking and reading.

Jennifer was born in Lake Forest, Ill. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, Minn., as well. She also received a master’s degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Before heading to the mission field, Jennifer served as an adjunct professor of speech communication at Kaplan University and Williston State College, Williston, N.D. (2008 – present). She enjoys reading in her free time. David and Jennifer have seven beautiful children – Hans, Rebekah, Rolf, Lena, Søren, Leif and Andreas - who join them on the mission field.

Please pray for the Preus family as they move to the Dominican Republic and begin serving God’s people there. Pray God gives them strength and peace as they transition to life overseas, learning the culture and the language. Ask God to give His wisdom to the LCMS missionary team in the Latin America and the Caribbean region as they seek to share the Gospel with and minister in mercy to the local people, especially with those who are developmentally disabled. Ask God to guide this team as they work to network and centralize mission efforts across this region of the world. Please also pray the hearts of people here in the United States are moved through the power of the Holy Spirit to pray for and to financially support the Preuses so they can “go with” this family on this journey of faith. Let us give thanks to God that David, Jennifer and their family have answered His call to serve in this part of the world.

The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod Inc., including Mission Central (in Mapleton, Iowa), is an IRS registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity.

A contribution designated (restricted) for a specific purpose when accepted, will be used only to fund expenses related to that purpose. Occasionally, we may receive more in contributions for a particular purpose than can be wisely applied to it in the foreseeable future or the purpose may cease to be feasible. In these situations, the LCMS will make reasonable attempts to contact contributors to apply their contribution differently. If a contributor cannot be contacted, the LCMS will use the gift to meet a similar pressing need that most closely matches the contributor's original intent.  Consistent with Synod Board policy, no more than 12 percent of a charitable contribution may be applied to administering gifts and communicating with contributors.  Contributions received and accepted by the LCMS are deemed to be in agreement with this statement.
