Michelle Cagnin

Michelle (Hoeppner) Cagnin serves the Lord through LCMS World Mission as the facilitator for human care in Asia and the area facilitator for Southeast Asia. In this role, Michelle works with missionaries and local leaders to explore new human care opportunities and oversees current human care ministries throughout the region. Michelle also works with LCMS World Mission personnel who serve in Southeast Asia to train local lay leaders, pastors and evangelists, serve people by meeting spiritual and physical needs, and expanding Gospel outreach when God presents opportunities.

Previous to serving in this position, Michelle was the executive director of Concordia Welfare and Education Foundation, a Hong Kong-based non-profit organization that improves people’s livelihoods through education and service. She has also volunteered as an English teacher in Qingdao, China, worked at Hong Kong International School, and served as an education and humanitarian aid worker in rural southwest China. In June 2009, Michelle married Sandro Cagnin, whom she met in China. Sandro, a native of Venice, Italy, is a musician and a teacher.

Please pray for Michelle and Sandro as they live and serve in Hong Kong. Pray for Michelle’s health and safety during her many travels. Ask the Lord to bless the human care initiatives throughout Asia—that He would work through projects and people to touch those in need with God-centered love. Pray for the spread of the Gospel throughout Southeast Asia through the LCMS personnel living and serving there—may their witness and service be a light to those around them. Finally, give thanks for all of the Lord’s faithful workers throughout Asia!
