Called to join His mission
In His great mercy, God has chosen you to be part of His chosen people, so that “you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9).
Being His witness to your friends, co-workers, neighbors and family members — the people whom the Lord has placed into your life — is your only reason for remaining in this world.
It is proof that you have work to do, and what a joyful work it is! You are a priest of the Most High God. He has called, consecrated and equipped you to join in His mission to seek and save the lost. And He has invited you into His joy of gathering them into His people and showing them His mercy.
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod walks with you in this work of bearing witness to Christ right here at home. Thanks be to God that He is opening doors in urban areas, on college campuses, in rural areas and small towns, and among people of different ethnicities.
Prayer
Almighty God, You have called Your Church to witness that in Christ You have reconciled us to Yourself, not counting our trespasses against us. Grant that Your people in every place may proclaim the good news of Your salvation in faithfulness and joy. By Your Holy Spirit, help all who hear to trust wholeheartedly in Your promises and to rejoice in the redemption accomplished by Your Son; we ask it in His holy name. Amen.
